It was a sunny still day as the Broadstone team arrived on the Hampshire chalk downs to take on Hockley.  Phil Purvis, Frank Snow, John Groves, Chris Terndrup, Pete Asquith, Colin Moyes, Dave Miles and Wes Hacker were greeted by a very friendly and hospitable opposition team.  On the first tee the opponents clearly had a tactic to lull Broadstone into a false sense of security when virtually their entire team missed the fairway putting their balls in punishing rough.  Unfortunately their tactic in most cases worked.  Of the Broadstone team, Frank Snow won a hard fought match 1 up, and Colin Moyes secured a well earned half.  However the star of the day was Wes Hacker, who clearly found that chalk down land suited his game.  He managed 3 over par gross on the first nine and at one point was 7 up.  He clearly relaxed a little after that, finally winning 3 & 2.  The final result for the team was 5½ - 2½ to Hockley.
