A fresh onshore breeze greeted the Millennium League team as they arrived at The Hayling Golf Club. This course is a true links course set right beside The Solent.  The team in the shape of Derek Mantle, Phil Purvis, Jim Robertson, John Groves, Scott Johnson, Larry Cooper, Martin Arnold and Dave Miles, knew that our opponents would be keen to provide stiff opposition, particularly as Broadstone won with a white wash at Broadstone in 2008.  The course was in excellent condition, the fairways hard and the greens very firm.  A cold squally shower at the mid way point, sufficient to soak players and clubs alike added to the test. In the end Phil, Martin and Dave earned creditable halves in their matches to make the result 6½ to 1½ in Haylings favour.
