On one of the rare days this summer the weather was perfect for golf as the Hardy A team arrived at Yeovil to face Parkstone in the semi final of the Cup. The semi-final is always played on a neutral course and Yeovil was an excellent option with the course in very good condition and we were also very well looked after. The Parkstone Hardy A team are currently unbeaten in the League so far this year so we were expecting a tough challenge. The team of Chris Dennis, Matt Terndrup, Ashley Harvey, Hilton Alcock, Mark Baber, Bernie Emberley and Sam Bradshaw all played exceptional golf and delivered a resounding 7-1 victory sending us through to the Final. I was the only player not to overcome an opponent but thoroughly enjoyed captaining such a committed team.
The Final will be played on a 2 Leg home and away basis at some pint in September with our opponents being either Yeovil or DG&CC who meet in their semi final at Broadstone on Sunday 9th. It's now back to league action where in August we visit Parkstone on the 9th, home against DG&CC on the 15th and away to Knighton Heath on the 29th which will complete our league campaign. Whilst we can smell the silverware in the Cup we have to two win at least 2 of our 3 remaining league games to ensure first division safety. Neil Irish - Hardy A Captain |
