Hardy A season finishes with Silverware for the Broadstone Team

On Sunday the Broadstone Hardy A team travelled to Yeovil for the 2nd Leg of the K/O Cup Final. Taking with us a 6-2 lead from the 1st Leg at Broadstone we knew that we required 3 wins out of the 8 singles matches at Yeovil to win the Hardy A League K/O Cup. With the usual pre-match banter going on between the teams the match got underway with Matt Terndrup spearheading the team. We started in overcast conditions but 1 hour in the rain started to fall. Despite this the course was in very good condition and held up well under the rain that fell.    Our ' Buggy Man', Mr Robinson, did a fine job by supporting us from the start and kept everyone on the course informed of the state of play and in my case a severe reprimand when I was 1 down after 8 which I'm sure spurred me on by winning the next 3 holes! The news Colin brought on his trips was looking good for Broadstone and we ended the season by beating Yeovil 6-2 which gave us a 12-4 victory over the two legs and brings the Cup to Broadstone. Herman had dashed over from Broadstone following his Captain Pro match to see us take the victory and our sincere thanks go to both Herman and Colin for their fantastic support throughout the season. It was a fitting end to another fine season for the Broadstone Hardy A Team with the Cup in the cabinet and finishing runners up of the top division. Ironic in a way that this is a reversal of last year where we won the league and runners up in the Cup.

So another season closes and I would like to personally thank all of the players that represented the Hardy A Team this year and for their comradery, team spirit and commitment ensuring that Broadstone were a success in a highly competitive league and K/O Cup. I would also like to show my full appreciation and thanks to Colin, Frances and Val who all work very hard behind the scenes making my job as Team Captain  a lot easier. I would also like to thank Ian and Dawn who always cater for us after matches so well.  A special thank you to Steve Northway of Dorset Drylining who, for a second consecutive year, kindly sponsored the Team Shirts and without doubt the Broadstone Team were the smartest team in the league for another year.
