The Millennium League team played their second match of the year at home against Hockley on a beautiful sunny day with a breeze that was just enough to make conditions interesting. Frank Snow, Jim Robertson, Phil Purvis, Neil Taylor, John Groves, Keith Coles, Colin Probin, and Wes Hacker entertained a team that had beaten us convincingly last year. The tables were turned this year with some impressive wins.  Team Captain Phil won 4 & 2 , John won 4 & 3, while Keith won 2 up. Frank had a very tight match which eventually ended all square.  Colin, on his debut for the team had a convincing 5 & 4 victory, but performance of the day must belong to Wes. Having won convincingly at Hockley last year, Wes this year halved the 10th in his match to win. There are not many who have won a singles match 9 & 8. Hockley's Captain offered Wes cheap membership, no joining fee and paid for taxi fares as an inducement to join their team for next year, but he is not for sale. The team result, a win 5½ - 2½ puts us in a strong position early in the year. However there are some difficult matches to come.  Our next outing is at home to Barton on 18th July.
