Dear Members,
I am sat in my office two days prior to ‘the drive in’ writing my first input to ‘tea to green’. I am very apprehensive about ‘the drive’ on Sunday 13 March, but extremely excited about the coming year.
I firstly want to say how proud I am to have the opportunity to be Captain of our fantastic golf club. All club members can ‘rest assured’ that I will be doing my very best to represent and exceed the high expectations of the golf club, both internally and externally. I take the responsibility seriously, but I do think there will be plenty of opportunity to really enjoy the year, and I intend to do exactly that. I am going to set myself a target of speaking with every member by the end of my Captaincy – I do like a good Chat and do want to encourage the social, as well as the playing side of the club – so if you see me coming you might want to hide!
The playing team Captains for 2011 are now well into the organisational side of their roles and have promised a ’clean sweep’ for the year. Apparently, Tim Aston has said ‘I am not an automatic pick for the ‘Hardy A team’ (which I really cannot understand) but I am really looking forward to supporting our playing teams in any way I can. I wish all who compete either for the club or in club competitions ‘all the very best’ for the coming season at Broadstone.
I am sure you will join me in wishing ‘Club Vice Captain’ John Taylor and ‘Ladies Captain’ Cathy Macfarlane Thompson good luck for the year ahead. John will be a fantastic Vice Captain, and even better Captain. Cathy will be equally effective with the ladies section supported by the 'Ladies Vice Captain' Janet Giddings. I know John, Cathy and Janet are as excited as I am about the coming year, and all four of us are really looking forward in working together as a team for the 2011/12 season.
Finally, we have a marvellous opportunity for an enjoyable year with a growing golfing & social programme – please do your very best in grasping the opportunities that are available and really enjoy the year. I know I will. Have some fun!
I am now off to the range to ensure I get that ball ‘down the middle’ on Sunday 13 March !
Kindest regards,
An extremely proud Club Captain, Chris TT Terndrup
